The foundational laws

The price law

All things can happen, but there is always a price.

The price is attached to existing, not only to choosing. To exist is to do — especially for a being with free will — and to do is to pay. Most payment is ordinary: the energy it took to do the thing.

Generosity does not break the law. Someone still pays; it is just not the one who receives.

Absolution is a form of payment, not a cancellation. It can take many forms. Forgiveness is one of them, when the chance is given, taken in good faith, and backed up with action.

The price law is universal. Sin is not: what counts as sin is cultural and subjective.

All things must end

Everything ends, however powerful or immortal. The ending does not depend on fate to happen: reality has deeper structures, older than fate, that still carry it out. Even beings outside fate are still inside that structure, so the ending reaches them.

Ending is not killing. Some things cannot be killed in any reasonable way. The one sure way to end something unkillable is to unmake it.

Reality fights back

Reality's rules are complete, including their exceptions. Nothing ever truly breaks them; even the exceptions are part of the rules. When something tries to break reality, reality fights back hard — with many tools, and the gods themselves would be expected to fail.

Under the most extreme conditions, reality's own machinery can break down. When that happens, reality's last resort is the right people in the wrong place.

Perspective shapes reality

Enough minds holding the same idea can help give that idea a real shape. Communal gestalt minds are real here.

But it takes an enormous number. Making a single creature independently real this way takes something like millions of people. Do not expect a village's belief to make anything.
