How to read the laws

Categories overlap. Unless something says otherwise, a being or a power can belong to as many categories as fit. Think of categories as building blocks, not boxes. Only an explicit exclusion keeps two apart. Effects follow every category a thing actually has.

"Usually" means there are exceptions. When a rule says usually, sometimes, could or at least, it is leaving room on purpose for cases the rule does not cover. Do not read it as vague.

Open by design. The multiverse is built to be a sandbox: as open as possible while still being concrete. Where no rule restricts something, that is a choice, not a gap. A restriction has to be stated.

Introduce a concept, inherit all its versions. Once a concept exists, every combination and variation of it can exist too — and each of those can seed more.

Only name what you can't guess. The laws list things that need explaining. Anything you can understand from its name alone is not listed, and does not need to be.

Name modifiers are a system. True- means closer to the core of a thing's nature: usually stronger, with more varied powers — and stronger weaknesses too. -less means outside something (Fateless: outside fate). Un- means the inversion of something in operation (undeath). Read the base word first, then apply the modifier. A modified name is not a separate kind of thing.

Metaphor can be law. Under the right conditions, things that rhyme — that share a meaning or a shape — behave as though bound by law. Every scale of the cosmos reflects the same underlying rules, which is why the rhyme holds.

The cosmos is an ecosystem. Mostly inorganic, but with rules and fail-safes like any other.

Everything is happening, all the time. The multiverse is infinite and busy. If something is not mentioned, that does not mean it is not happening.

That makes the multiverse itself a fair suspect in any theory. In the GM's words:

"Not a witness. A perpetual probable perpetrator."
